BYD and Malaysia Sime Darby reached a cooperation agreement to sell Atto 3 and e6 EVs


Recently on September 28, BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. officially signed a contract with Sime Darby Automobile Imports Sdn Bhd and Sime Darby Britannia Automobile Sdn Bhd to reach a passenger car import cooperation agreement and will sell BYD pure electric vehicles in Malaysia , including Atto 3 (Yuan Plus) and e6.

The Atto 3 will be available in Thailand next month and has already been launched in Australia. This model uses a front electric motor with a rated power of 204 hp and a torque of 310 Nm. It is equipped with a blade battery, which is a lithium iron phosphate battery of 49.92 kWh (345km WLTP) or 60.48 kWh (420km WLTP), and supports fast charging, with charge to 80% in 45 minutes.

As for the e6, it features a 71.7 kWh battery with a front-mounted electric motor, 95 PS (94 hp or 70 kW), 180 Nm, and a WLTC rated range of 522 km, also on a blade battery.

Liu Xueliang, general manager of BYD’s Asia-Pacific Automobile Sales Department, said: “BYD will join hands with Sime Darby to meet the needs of consumers in Malaysia for electric vehicles and the people’s desire for a green and low-carbon society through BYD’s excellent products and high-quality services, and jointly promote the development of Malaysia’s new energy vehicle industry.”

Sime Darby Automobile Managing Director Mr Andrew Barsha said: “We welcome the world-class brand BYD to join us, This helps us deliver on our commitment to encourage greater acceptance of electric vehicles among Malaysian consumers and allows us to diversify into electric vehicles.”
