It is learned on November 25 from China Civil Aviation Network, recently, the special certification plan and system-level certification plan of the EH216-S passenger autonomous aircraft system type certificate (TC) project have been approved by the review team. The project has entered the stage of comprehensive compliance verification. Civil Aviation University of China dispatched three experts from the School of Safety Science and Engineering, Yang Jianzhong, Wang Peng, and Xiao Nv’e, as members of the project review team to make positive contributions.
The EHang EH216-S project is the world’s first passenger autonomous aircraft system TC project. Leaders at all levels attach great importance to the project’s innovation and leading demonstration role in future urban air mobility (UAM). The leaders of the Civil Aviation Administration issued relevant instructions on the project, requesting to speed up the airworthiness review work. The Aircraft Airworthiness Certification Department of the Civil Aviation Administration, together with the Flight Standards Department and the Air Traffic Management Office, established a special working group for the promotion of EH216-S airworthiness certification.
Yang Jianzhong, Wang Peng, and Xiao Nv’e have been deeply involved in the project review work. Especially since the promulgation of the special conditions for the project in February this year, they have worked with the project review team and applicants to overcome the impact of the pandemic and maintain close communication.
Previously, the School of Safety Science and Engineering of Civil Aviation University of China has also deeply involved in other airworthiness certifications of large UAV aircraft in the country.
In June 2020, Yang Jianzhong and Wang Peng participated in the airworthiness review team of the country’s first large-scale cargo unmanned aerial vehicle HY-100, participated in the formulation of the Airworthiness Standards for High-Risk Cargo Fixed-Wing UAV Systems, and carried out the airworthiness review work of the two professional groups of flight control system and system safety. In November 2020, the Civil Aviation Administration officially issued approval for the design and production of Hongyan (HY100) large-scale UAV system.
In November 2020, Yang Jianzhong, Wang Peng, and Xiao Nv’e participated in the FH-98 UAV system airworthiness review team to carry out the airworthiness review work of the two professional groups of system safety and flight control system.
In July 2022, the Airworthiness Department of the Civil Aviation Administration established a special working group for civil unmanned aircraft airworthiness certification. The working group focuses on building an airworthiness management system for civil unmanned aircraft; conducts policy research, standard formulation and compliance method exploration; and guided the practice of airworthiness certification of various projects, and coordinate and promote the work of airworthiness certification of unmanned aircraft.
Yang Jianzhong, Wang Peng, Xiao Nv’e, and Ma Liqun, as members of the policy formulation group and technical standard group, have participated in the formulation of the country’s civil unmanned aircraft airworthiness management policy, and carried out research work on airworthiness standards, special conditions, technical standards, compliance methods and special technologies for civil unmanned aircraft.
