It is learned on December 5 from IT Home, BYD will start selling the first batch of pure electric vehicles in the country early next year.

BYD said it will launch its electric SUV, the ATTO 3, in Japan from Jan. 31, 2023. The cruising range of this model is 485 kilometers, and the price is 4.4 million yen (about 230,500 yuan).

BYD said its Japanese arm plans to launch two more models by the end of 2023 and have more than 100 dealerships in Japan by the end of 2025.

In order to better sell passenger cars and provide related services in Japan, BYD established BYD Auto Japan Co., Ltd. on July 4.

It is learned that BYD has already achieved great success in the Japanese electric bus market. On July 13, Shinsaku Hanada, executive vice president of BYD Japan, said that with the Japanese government’s commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, local awareness of electric vehicles has increased, and the company is expected to sell 4,000 electric buses in Japan around 2028.
