Recently, according to media reports, people familiar with the matter said that NIO plans to build its first battery factory to produce large cylindrical batteries similar to those used by Tesla. Currently, Nio is seeking to reduce its reliance on CATL battery supplies. It is reported that the new factory will be located near NIO’s main manufacturing center in Hefei, Anhui Province.
Tianyancha App shows that NIO has established NIO Battery Technology (Anhui) Co., Ltd. in Hefei, whose legal representative is Zeng Shuxiang, with a registered capital of 2 billion yuan, and its business scope includes battery manufacturing and sales; R&D, sales and manufacturing of electronic special materials; and sales of graphite and carbon products, etc. It is wholly owned by NIO Holdings Co., Ltd.
Tianyancha’s intellectual property information shows that the company has recently begun to apply for battery-related patents, and the first published patent is “A negative electrode of a battery and an electrochemical device comprising the negative electrode of the battery”.
The description shows that with the help of the battery negative electrode provided by the present invention, lithium deposition or lithium precipitation at the edge of the pole piece can be avoided while maintaining a high energy density, thereby improving the safety and reliability of the electrochemical device.
In the positive electrode structure of the battery, a layer of active material is usually coated on the surface to improve the electrochemical performance and energy density of the battery, wherein the active material will be reasonably selected according to the principles and methods provided by the present invention.
Through the technical solution of the invention, lithium deposition or lithium precipitation at the edge of the pole piece can be avoided while maintaining high energy density, thereby improving the safety and reliability of the battery.
In a specific embodiment, the present invention increases the contact area between the active material and the electrolyte or the electrolyte by increasing the contact area between the positive active material and the electrolyte or the electrolyte, thereby improving the stability of the negative electrode and the energy density of the electrochemical device of the power battery; in addition, the present invention suppresses the oxidation reaction on the surface of the positive electrode and controls the formation of adsorbate on the surface of the electrode by adding a conductive agent.
