EHang and CATEC successfully completed the BAUD project of the Spanish Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion Agency

On March 28, EHang reported that it has successfully completed the BAUD project in Spain in close cooperation with Center for Advanced Aerospace Technologies (CATEC).

About the BAUD project

The BAUD project, supported by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, was developed under the “Spain Investment Program” of the Spanish Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ICEX), which aims to improve the operational safety and efficiency of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in performing air logistics tasks, and enable it to integrate into European U-Space airspace.

After a year of intensive industry research, EHang and the Center for Advanced Aerospace Technologies developed an automatic airborne beacon, using global navigation satellite systems, European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS), and Galileo GNSS to provide more accurate and comprehensive positioning of unmanned aircraft systems, as well as to provide other information such as the status of unmanned aircraft systems under the U-Space system, remote electronic ID (electronic identification); and successfully realized project objectives.

The flight test of the BAUD project was carried out in the flight test center of the Advanced Unmanned Systems Air Traffic Laboratory (ATLAS) of the Center for Advanced Aerospace Technologies, using two EHang intelligent Falcon B (logistics version) self-driving aircraft to carry out test. The results of this project can be applied not only to EHang’s intelligent autonomous aircraft, but also to other unmanned aircraft systems. By intelligently integrating with the U-Space system, it can ensure the safe operation of unmanned aircraft systems in European airspace.

Xiang Jing, Chief Operating Officer of EHang Europe and Latin America, said: “We are very pleased to announce the successful completion of the BAUD project, achieving all the goals and objectives of the project. EHang is very willing to embrace various public-private partnership opportunities for R&D and investment in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles in Spain. This encourages EHang to participate in multiple innovative projects, share our leading technology and rich international experience in urban air mobility, and strengthen our extensive technical cooperation network in Europe.”
