According to CATL, on May 9, the European Patent Office (EPO) announced the shortlist for the 2023 European Inventor Award. CATL Chief Scientist Wu Kai and his team were nominated for the European Inventor Award finalist in the “Non-EPO Member State Award” category.

The European Inventor Award was jointly established by the European Patent Office and the Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission in 2006. It is one of the most prestigious innovation awards in Europe. It aims to recognize outstanding inventors who have made special contributions to technological progress, social development and economic prosperity.
This year, Wu Kai’s team stood out from more than 600 candidates, and became one of three finalists for the “Non-EPO Member State Award”. The final winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Valencia, Spain, on July 4, 2023.
